The VSH-2096 impact huller dehulls oats, sunflower seeds, spelt, hemp, barley, buckwheat, canary seed, cocoa beans, and more, with just one moving part. Supplied, installed, and supported by Vistasort in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
An impact huller removes the hull from grain and seed by impact. Product is thrown at a controlled speed against a hard ring. The hull cracks and releases while the kernel inside stays intact.
In the VSH-2096, built by Codema, material passes through a rotating impeller and is propelled into the surrounding impact ring for consistent, high-efficiency hulling. A hardened, dynamically balanced impeller with grooved vanes orients each kernel before impact, and a variable frequency drive sets the exact speed for your product.
Vistasort supplies the VSH-2096 impact huller and fits it into complete seed cleaning and processing lines across Western Canada.

One rotating impeller, one impact ring, and a speed set for your product. Here is what happens to each kernel.
Grain or seed feeds through the inlet into the centre of the rotating impeller.
The hardened, dynamically balanced impeller has a series of grooved vanes that force individual kernels to line up for maximum hulling efficiency at impact.
The impeller throws each kernel outward at a speed programmed on the variable frequency drive, matched to the product so the hull cracks without damaging the kernel.
Kernels strike the surrounding impact ring and the hull releases. Hulled product and loose hulls drop to the outlet, which needs about 400 cfm of aspiration.
A simple, heavy-duty design that is easy to set up for each product and easy to keep running.
Hulls a wide range of products, including oats, sunflower seeds, spelt, hemp, barley, buckwheat, canary seed, and cocoa beans.
A variable frequency drive lets you program the precise impeller speed for each product and hulling target.
The impact ring is available in stone, ceramic, or polymer, and adjusts vertically for even wear and long service life.
A heavy welded steel housing supports long-term, continuous operation.
With just two wearing parts and one moving part, upkeep is kept to a minimum.
The support legs can be mounted upside down to suspend the VSH-2096 from the ceiling when floor space is tight.

The VSH-2096 is built to handle a wide range of hulled crops. Speed and impact ring material are set for each one.
Hull oats to produce groats, at approximately 4,500 lbs/hr (2,000 kg/hr).
Dehull barley at 2.0 to 2.5 metric tonnes per hour, and hull spelt.
Dehull sunflower seeds for food-grade markets and further processing.
Hull hemp seed, buckwheat, canary seed, cocoa beans, and other specialty products.
The huller usually follows pre-cleaning and destoning, and comes before gravity and optical sorting, which separate hulled from unhulled product. A magnetic separator ahead of the huller protects it from metal.
Typical order only. Vistasort sets up every line around your crop and targets.
